Camping
We have a field suitable for camping - the views across the loch are lovely. There is a single toilet and shower on site, we can supply you with a tent if you need one and there are electric hook ups available.
Unfortunately the drive is rather steep for towing caravans but small camper vans will be fine accessing the site. Please email or ring us if you would like to make an arrangement to camp.
Croft Flora and Fauna
Swallows nest every year in our outbuildings, whilst the bottom field is allowed to go wild each summer to encourage meadow flowers and butterflies. We have just planted some organic apple trees sourced from Butterworth Organics.
We have sheep and hens and there are hares on the croft. We regularly see buzzards, snipe, blackbirds, pied wagtails, blue tit, chaffinch, sparrow, robin, the occasional lapwing, oyster catchers, song thrush, wren, great tit, dunnock and curlew. We also see red wing on migration. We regularly hear cuckoos and, late at night, snipe.
Surrounding the croft, the land is largely undisturbed apart from a few grazing sheep and the diversity of flora is wide. Examples range from the common Tormentil to Marsh Orchids and from Bog Iris to the tiny Sundew.
